We’ve never sent
out a WoW Bulletin before and we likely won’t again so don’t
worry, your email box won’t be overflowing with these little
nuggets.
We just wanted to make sure that you haven’t forgotten the
OTMH Classic 5k Power Walk this weekend! You can
register online until 4pm on June 17th at www.otmhclassic.com
or you can register in person from 7:30 to 8:30am on race day! This
is a great race for power walkers. They have a separate start, and
prizes for top 3 male and female, top 3 male and female over 40,
and top 3 male and female over 65. There is also a 3k family walk
(yes, you get a t-shirt, too), if you want to bring Dad along!
Truth be told, I go to enjoy the breakfast after the race. For
a $5
donation, Longo's and Jennifer's Kitchens team up to prepare a breakfast
worthy of all the champion runners and walkers. After some sleuthing
I
have discovered they will be preparing Belgian waffles with strawberries
and whipped cream served in a convenient and stylish box! There
will be
peameal bacon on a bun available too, if you need your pure protein
fix.
The fun isn’t just on Sunday. If you are picking up your
race kit at the Running Room in downtown Oakville on Saturday (or
even if you are aren’t), come on over to the Running Company
at 118 Thomas Street – that’s just north across Lakeshore
Road and a few steps up Thomas Street. They are having a running/walking
expo from 9:30am to 3pm featuring the technical reps from New Balance,
Brooks, Nike, Polar Heart Rate monitors, Sugoi, Saucony, Physical
Edge Physiotherapy, and WoW Power Walking™. It’s a great
opportunity to hear from the experts when they’re all in one
place.
And
I’ll be there talking to people about power walking and our
new DVD Simple
Secrets for a Great Walking Workout. The DVD will be for
sale at the Expo and you can enter your name in the draw that will
be held after the race on Sunday. We’ll be giving away some
WoW Coolmax® shirts and a WoW course. So, come on out to put
your name in the draw.
I look forward to seeing you there.
It will be worth the drive for the walk! - Lee
