WoW to Jay and Jill

It has to be mentioned here that Jay and Jill completed their Myrtle Beach Marathons yesterday - the 8th of their 50 states. (You can read a short primer about them in the blog posting of February 4.)

Truly, I believe that numbers never tell the whole story but I have to say that when you know that Jill and Jay completed their first marathon in Honolulu in December of 2005 in a time of 6 hours and 19 minutes and then you learn that yesterday Jill completed Myrtle Beach in 5:15:35 and Jay in 5:26:52, you have to know there is story of determination and perserverance at the heart of it.

Pretty much speechless at this accomplishment, I send out HUGE CONGRATULATIONS. And I hope their achievement inspires a few more of you to continue aiming for great things with your power walking.

Yes, speechless is the word and perserverance and determination are the other 'words' that we have seen when we have walked with Jay and Jill. Results that they must be very proud of, and knowing them, during the 'rest time', figuring out how to 'shave' a few seconds more off.

Thank you everyone in WowPowerWalking for your inspiration, encouragement and support. When you are part of a group you can achieve great things. Thank you Lee for convincing us we can do it!
Myrtle Beach was the perfect setting to achieve our personal best. Ideal weather, palm trees waving in a slight breeze and excellent race organizers and volunteers. We met many powerwalkers and one walker that had completed 177 marathons, age 70. We also peaked the interest of many a runner as they wondered out loud how we were walking faster than they were running. We wore our Wow Power Walking shirts with pride. Our message is short "Never Say Never!"
